Jalapeno Popper Dip

For those of us who attended last months Book Club or Jamie Kunz's Baby Shower, we all LOVED this yummy dip recipe from Elise Halling!  Here is the recipe . . .

Jalapeno Popper Dip
16 oz. Cream Cheese, softened
1 c. mayonnaise
4 oz. chopped Jalapenos (I used canned)
4 oz. chopped Green Chilies
1/2 tsp. Cumin
1 1/2 c. grated Mexi-Blend Cheese

Topping
1 c. Bread (or Panko Bread) Crumbs
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 c. melted Butter

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, jalapenos, green chilies, cumin and grated cheese. Mix well. Pour into lightly greased casserole dish, or 9 x 13 pan. Combine "topping' ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the cream cheese mixture. Bake 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and dip is bubbling. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, vegetables... Enjoy!!

The Road Home

We have a really great service opportunity coming up on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:00 pm.  We will be meeting at the church at 5:15 to organize ourselves and carpool.  We will be serving dinner at 'The Road Home' downtown.  For those of us that came last time it was a very special experience!  We will be needing about 20 volunteers to come serve the food and we are are also in need of food donations.  If you won't be able to come that night and serve but would be willing to make some of the food that would be greatly appreciated!  Here is a list of things we will need:

  • 8-10 pans of 'Cheese Potatoes'
  • 6-8 basic green salads (enough to feed about 8-10 people)
  • 6-8 green jello salads (enough to feed about 8-10 people)
  • 9-10 plates of cookies (about a dozen cookies per plate)
We will also be serving ham, vegetables, and rolls.  For those of you donating/making food please bring it on a disposable plate/tray.  That way we can leave any leftover food at the shelter.
We will have sign ups going around at church.  PLEASE sign up to help in any way you can!

Fall Social 'Chili Cook-Off '

Our Relief Society Fall Social is coming up on:

Wednesday, October 24th at 6:30 pm.

Invite your spouse and neighbors!

We will be having a 'Chili Cook-Off'.  If you have a delicious chili recipe that you would be willing to bring please let us know!  We will be sending a sign up around at church for those that want to participate.  Please bring enough for 8- 12 people.  If you would like your chili to be part of the 'competition' and be judged, please let us know.  There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place chili!  We are looking for several people that would be willing to provide us with some nice music while we are serving the chili and eating dinner (piano music etc.)  If you are willing to help us out with this, please let us know!
We will be providing salad, cornbread, and some yummy pumpkin desserts!  We will play some fun games and have a great time getting to know each other a little better!  There will be a nursery provided by the young women.  If you have any questions, please let me know!
   See you there!

Brigham City Temple Dedication

Many of us had the wonderful opportunity today to attend the 'Brigham City Temple Dedication'.  It was such a beautiful experience!  We are so lucky to have yet another Temple close by!
President Packer talks about the temple and the home having equal importance.  He said " Temple.  One other word is equal in importance to a Latter-day Saint.  Home.  Put the words holy temple and home together, and you have described the house of the Lord. "
If we strive to make the temple an important part of our lives and visit it regularly, it will help us bring the spirit of the temple into our own homes.

Stay on the Lord's Side of the Line

We had a great lesson today about 'Staying on the Lord's Side of the Line' by Christy.

The Lord has given us commandments so that we can resist evil and find happiness.  President George Albert Smith said:  'When I have been tempted sometimes to do a certain thing, I have asked myself, 'Which side of the line am I on?' If I determined to be on the safe side, the Lord's side, I would do the right thing every time.  So when temptation comes think prayerfully about your problem and the influence of the Lord will aid you to decide wisely.  There is safety for us only on the Lord's side of the line.'

I hope we can all make wise decisions and not yield to temptation so that we can stay on the right side of the line!  Thanks for the great lesson Christy!
