Stake Relief Society Service Project

The Stake Relief Society has put together a group of women that are aimed at doing service once a month and this month they have selected 'Teeny Tears Diapers'.
Teeny Tears is a service organization that provided tiny flannel bereavement diapers to hospitals and bereavement support organizations at no charge for families that have suffered the loss of a preemie or micropreemie child through sill birth or NICU loss.  These diapers are soft against delicate skin and provide dignity and modesty for the tiniest angels.  These parents often have one opportunity to bathe, dress, and hold their baby in this life.  When arms are left empty, mementos of this precious time together can help ease the pain.  The need and desire for these diapers is enormous, and endless; they fill a very special and important niche within the bereavement community.  Your support will be a tremendous blessing for the future angel families that will receive the diapers during their tender, earliest moments of grief.  They will know that someone understands that their son or daughter was loved, special and that they mattered.  Because "a person's a person, no matter how small".

There will be two different sessions available at the Stake Center this Thursday, the 6th of September.  Please come to either or both.  There will be a session from 10 am.-Noon and another session later in the evening from 7 pm.-9pm.

You DO NOT have to sew to participate in this activity.  If you can run a pair of scissors, you are absolutely capable of helping.  Please bring any of the following if possible:  a sharp pair of fabric scissors, a yard of flannel fabric (anything you would make a baby blanket with), sewing machine, iron, ironing board, and a willingness to serve.  If you have any questions please contact Vanessa Pollard at vanessa.teenytears@gmail.com.

This is an organization that has become very near and dear to my heart.  As many of you know, we recently lost our son in June.  He was born still born at 21 weeks gestation.  We received some of these adorable diapers at the hospital. My kids were given some as well to keep as a memento of their little brother. Words cannot express how much those little diapers meant to me during my early stages of grief.  We loved being able to clothe our little boy in such a precious gift that was made out of love.    I can't wait to make some of these diapers on Thursday for other special angels and their families.  I hope many of you will join me there!
